The lecture will focus on general background definition for GIS and its components. Then, it will explain the structure of urban information systems and their difficulties.

Lecturer : Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz Abdel Hamid is a full professor of Urban Planning & Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications in Al-Azhar University, Faculty of Engineering, Urban Planning Department and he was seconded as a professor at King Saud University College of Architecture and Planning. He is an urban planning & GIS ex consultant for Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) in several projects and also in the some planning organization in Egypt such as General organization for urban planning (GOPP).
Dr. Mohamed was the member of scientific committee of the National GIS Symposium in Saudi Arabia – AlKuber (From 2006 till 2009). He has publishing several papers in the scientific magazines. He is interested in Urban Planning and GIS applications in the regional and urban planning. He designed many of GIS applications and shared in the systems design of GIS for many urban planning institutions.
Prof. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, co-author of the book “The foundations and principles of urban planning and design”, and has authored a book titled Urban Information Systems: Concepts and applications (being printed).

المحاضر : الدكتور محمد عبد العزيزعبد الحميد أستاذ للتخطيط العمراني وتطبيقات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في جامعة الأزهر- كلية الهندسة – قسم التخطيط العمراني وأُعير كأستاذ بجامعة الملك سعود بكلية العمارة والتخطيط. كما عمل مستشاراً بالهيئة العليا لتطوير مدينة الرياض لمشروعات تخطيطية عديدة. كذلك عمل خبيراً للتخطيط العمراني ونظم المعلومات الجغرافية بالهيئة العامة للتخطيط العمراني بمصر والعديد من المؤسسات التخطيطية بمصر. كما أشترك في لجان علمية لندوات كالملتقى الوطني لنظم المعلومات الجغرافية – الخبر - السعودية، وله العديد من الأبحاث المنشورة في المجلات العلمية والمؤتمرات الدولية في مجال التخطيط العمراني وتطبيقات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية.
دكتور محمد عبد العزيز أشترك في تأليف كتاب أسس ومبادئ التخطيط والتصميم العمراني، كما قام بتأليف كتاب تحت عنوان نظم المعلومات العمرانية: مفاهيم وتطبيقات (جاري طباعته).
