A training Course: Integrated Solutions for Groundwater problems in Historic Settings
A training Course on “Integrated Solutions for Groundwater problems in Historic Settings” within the framework of the Athar Lina Climate and Heritage Project – Erth, funded by the Cultural Protection Fund of the British Council and organized by Athar Lina Initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The training course will take place in three cities: Port Said, Alexandria, and Luxor, each lasting three days from 9 AM to 3 PM. The course is designed for Conservation and Engineering students and graduates, with priority given to those working in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The course will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of documenting damage to archaeological buildings, mapping of humidity and salt patterns, and providing solutions to groundwater issues, including salt removal, ventilation, drainage, and groundwater reduction. Additionally, case studies from the conservation projects of the domes of Yahya al-Shabih and Safiyy al-Din Jawhar within the framework of ERTH run by Megawra’s Athar Lina Initiative under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities with funding from the British Council’s #CulturalProtectionFund, in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport will be presented.
Training course dates:
Port Said city: February 5th to 7th
Alexandria city: February 19th to 21st
Luxor city: March 4th to 6th
The course will be conducted in Arabic.
About the instructors:
May al-Ibrashy is an Egyptian architect, chair of Megawra – BEC, founder of Megawra Built Environment, and Head of Athar Lina initiative. Al-Ibrashy holds a BSc in Architectural Engineering from Ain Shams University, an MA in History of Islamic Art and Architecture, and a PhD in Archaeology from the University of London.
Abeer Fouad is a lecturer at the Department of Conservation and Head Manager of the Research and Conservation Center at the Faculty of Archaeology, Fayoum University. She holds a BSc in Archaeology, with a specialization in restoration, and a PhD and MA in Conservation and Restoration from the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University.
Mokhtar Mohamed is a conservator holding a Bachelor’s degree in the conservation of antiquities from Cairo University. He participated in numerous archaeological missions and worked as a conservator at the Aga Khan Foundation for 9 years. In Megawra, he contributed to the conservation of the domes of Sayyida Ruqayya, Shagar al-Durr, and held the position of Chief Conservator in the Imam Shafi’i Project. He currently works on the conservation project of the domes of Yahya al-Shabih and Safiyy al-Din Jawhar.
Ahmed Tantawi is an engineer holding a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Zagazig University. He works as a civil consultant at Megawra, and he is the site manager for the conservation project of Yahya al-Shabih’s dome.
Aliaa El Dardiry is an architect working at Megawra, She holds a BSc in Architectural Engineering from Ain Shams University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Digital Heritage at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.

دورة تدريبية: الحلول المتكاملة لمشاكل المياه الأرضية في المناطق التاريخية
دورة تدريبية بعنوان "الحلول المتكاملة لمشاكل المياه الأرضية في المناطق التاريخية" وذلك في إطار مشروع الأثر لنا للتراث والمناخ - إرث من تمويل صندوق الحماية الثقافية التابع للمجلس البريطاني ومن تنظيم مبادرة الأثر لنا التابعة لمجاورة، بالتعاون مع وزارة السياحة والآثار.
سوف تعقد الدورة التدريبية في ثلاث مدن بورسعيد، والإسكندرية، والأقصر، بواقع ثلاثة أيام في كل مدينة من الساعة 9 صباحًا وحتى 3 عصرًا، الدورة موجهة لطلبة وخريجي الآثار والهندسة مع إعطاء الأولوية للعاملين بوزارة السياحة والآثار.
تتناول الدورة بشكل نظري وعملي توثيق مظاهر التلف بالمباني الأثرية، خريطة الرطوبة والأملاح، حلول مشاكل المياه الأرضية متمثلة في نزع الأملاح والتهوية والصرف وتخفيض المياه الأرضية، بالإضافة إلى عرض لنماذج من مشروعي ترميم قبتي يحيى الشبيه وصفي الدين جوهر التابع لمشروع إرث من تنفيذ مجاورة في إطار مبادرة الأثر لنا، تحت إشراف وزارة السياحة والأثار المصرية وبتمويل من صندوق الحماية الثقافية التابع للمجلس الثقافي البريطاني، بالشراكة مع وزارة الشؤون الرقمية والثقافة والإعلام والرياضة.

مدينة بورسعيد في الفترة بين 5 لـ 7 فبراير
مدينة الإسكندرية في الفترة بين 19 لـ 21 فبراير
مدينة الأقصر في الفترة بين 4 لـ 6 مارس
تقام الدورة التدريبية باللغة العربية.
عن المدربين:
مي الإبراشي: مهندسة معمارية مصرية وهي رئيس مجلس إدارة جمعية الفكر العمراني ومؤسس مكتب مجاورة للعمران ومدير مبادرة الأثر لنا. حصلت على شهادة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المعمارية من جامعة عين شمس وماجستير في تاريخ الفن والعمارة الإسلامية ودكتوراه في علم الآثار من جامعة لندن.
عبير فؤاد: محاضرة بقسم الترميم ومديرة مركز بحوث وصيانة الآثار بجامعة الفيوم. حاصلة على درجة البكالوريوس في علم الآثار قسم الترميم، ودكتوراه وماجستير في الحفظ والترميم في كلية الآثار جامعة القاهرة.
مختار محمد: مرمم حاصل على بكالوريوس ترميم وصيانة الآثار من جامعة القاهرة، شارك في كثير من البعثات المهتمة بالآثار، عمل كمرمم في مؤسسة الأغا خان لمدة 9 سنوات، وفي مجاورة شارك في ترميم كلًا من قبتي السيدة رقية، وشجر الدر، وشغل منصب كبير المرممين في مشروع الإمام الشافعي، وحاليًا في مشروع ترميم قبتي صفي الدين جوهر ويحيى الشبيه.
أحمد طنطاوي: مهندس حاصل على بكالوريوس الهندسة من جامعة الزقازيق، يعمل كاستشاري مدني في مكتب مجاورة للعمران بالإضافة إلى إنه مدير موقع لمشروع ترميم قبة يحيى الشبيه.
علياء الدرديري: مهندسة معمارية تعمل في مكتب مجاورة للعمران. حصلت على شهادة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المعمارية من جامعة عين شمس وحاليا تقوم بعمل ماجستير في مجال التراث الرقمي بالأكاديمية البحرية.
