Documenting the Present | Participatory Practices in Contemporary Heritage Collecting
From within this ‘other’ city, Imagine IC wants to make new social connections and add to the existing heritage collections of Amsterdam and The Netherlands. They want to collect present-day society together with old and new inhabitants of the city.
Imagine IC advocates for heritage democracy; ‘’because heritage tells a story about who we are, everyone should have a voice’’. This notion carries through everything they do as an organization.This lecture will discuss the participatory heritage work from Imagine IC and give you insights into the work this progressive organization does together with its network, accompanied by several examples of projects and educational programs.This lecture is one of the activities of Megawra’s Khalifa Heritage Exchange Program, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Imagine IC, Merve Bedir Studio, Chirine El Ansary, and Cascoland.It is organized within the frame of Athar Lina’s tourism promotion event “Spend the Day in Khalifa 7”.
About the Instructor
Margot van Ruitenbeek is a starting heritage professional living and working in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She studied Cultural Heritage at the Amsterdam School of the Arts. As part of her Bachelor’s program, she followed a minor in Gender Studies at the University of Utrecht and majored in Storytelling and Participatory Practices. Her thesis focused on the impact evaluation of Emotion Networking in an exhibition space. For this research, she studied the theory behind Emotion Networking, worked out ways in which this method could be translated into exhibition space (together with Imagine IC) and researched different impact evaluation techniques. In 2018 she started working at Imagine IC as an intern on the participatory neighborhood archive, working closely with a number of participants from the network. After finishing her intern and thesis, she started working as interim-educator at Imagine IC. Within this role, Margot is responsible for Emotion Networking workshops for ‘professionals’ as well as the educational program for children and students. She’s enthusiastic about educating people in heritage practices and has a passion for art, books and Amsterdam’s cultural scene.

إماجين أي سي هي منظمة تراثية مقرها جنوب شرق أمستردام. يرى عامة الناس إماجين أي سي على أنها مزيج من أرشيف ومتحف ومركز للمناظرات. حيث تقوم بجمع وعرض ومناقشة حياة المدينة الحالية. يرى معظم قاطني أمستردام الجنوب الشرقي على أنه الجزء المتطرف من المدينة. أما إماجين أي سي فترى أنه يمثل مركزًا آخر للمدينة، حيث يعكس صورة أخرى عن المدينة، بمتطلبات اجتماعية وثقافية مختلفة.
من داخل هذه المدينة "الأخرى"، تسعى إماجين أي سي إلى إقامة روابط اجتماعية جديدة وإضافة المزيد للتراث الموجود بالفعل في أمستردام وهولندا. كما تسعى إلى الجمع بين المجتمع المعاصر وسكان المدينة القدامى والجدد.
تدعو إماجين أي سي إلى ديمقراطية التراث؛ " لابد أن يشارك كل شخص في جمع التراث، لأنه يحكي قصتنا وقصة من نكون" . يتجلى هذا المفهوم في كل ما يتم تنفيذه من خلال هذه المؤسسة.
تناقش هذة المحاضرة جهود "إماجين أي سي" لصناعة التراث التشاركي، كما تلقي الضوء على العمل الذي تقوم به هذه المنظمة التقدمية مع شبكتها، مع استعراض عدة أمثلة على مشاريعها وبرامجها التعليمية.
تأتي هذة المحاضرة في إطار أنشطة برنامج مجاورة للتبادل التراثي بالخليفة، الممول من سفارة هولندا، بالتعاون مع إماچين أي سي، وستوديو ميرڤة بدير، وشيرين الأنصاري، وكاسكولاند.
يتم تنظيم المحاضرة كجزء من فعاليات احتفالية الترويج السياحي "اقضي يومك في الخليفة 7".
عن المحاضر
مارجوت فان روتينبيك باحثة في مجال التراث تقطن وتعمل في أمستردام بهولندا. درست التراث الثقافي في كلية أمستردام للفنون. درست برنامجا ثانويا عن دراسات النوع الاجتماعي (الجندر) في إطار برنامج حصولها على درجة البكالوريوس من جامعة أوتريخت، بينما تخصصت في مجال الحكي والممارسات التشاركية.
ركزت أطروحتها على تقييم أثر التواصل العاطفي في مساحة المعرض. وفي إطار هذ البحث، درست مارجوت نظريات التواصل العاطفي واستنبطت طرق لتطبيق هذة النظرية في مساحة العرض (بالتعاون مع إماجين أي سي)، كما بحثت في مختلف تقنيات تقييم الأثر.
في عام 2018، بدأت العمل مع إماجين أي سي كمتدربة في مشروع الأرشيف التشاركي للحي، حيث عملت عن قرب مع عدد من المشاركين من الشبكة. بعد الانتهاء من فترة التدريب وتسليم أطروحتها، بدأت العمل كمعلمة مؤقتة في إماجين أي سي. حيث كانت مارجوت مسؤولة عن ورش عمل التواصل العاطفي للمهنيين، بالإضافة إلى البرنامج التعليمي للأطفال والطلاب. مارجوت شغوفة بالتثقيف والتوعية عن الممارسات التراثية، بالإضافة إلى اهتمامها بالفنون والكتب والمشهد الثقافي في أمستردام.
