What is LEED?

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies intended to improve performance in metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, C02 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
LEED is one of the most powerful integrated design tools for green building professionals.

This training workshop will qualify you to take the LEED Green Associate Exam:
1- Identify the key components of the LEED Rating System.
2- Discuss the LEED Certification process for both buildings and homes.
3- Describe the intent and associated concepts of each LEED category.
4- Describe successful LEED strategies.
5- Prepare for the LEED Green Associate examination.

This course is for architects, engineers, students, contractors and anyone involved in building and real estate.

Instructor’s Bio:
Shady Attia is an architectural engineer working as a scientific researcher at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the International Energy Agency Task 40 Team: Towards Net Zero Energy Buildings. This team is studying current net-zero, near net-zero and very low energy buildings and to develop a common understanding, a harmonized international definitions framework, tools, innovative solutions and industry guidelines. He is an active member in ASHRAE, IBPSA, SBSE, ASES and USGBC, serves as a reviewer for one international journal beside the PLEA 2011 conference. As registered architect and LEED accredited professional, he has published more than 20 papers and articles, taught several classes and gave more than 35 presentations on building energy efficiency, sustainability, and renewable energy topics.
