Maspero Parallel Participatory Project: Presenting Full Process and Launching the Project’s Report Book

Maspero Neighborhood is one of the important neighborhoods in historical Cairo. For the passed decades, the government dealt with the area as an economic potential, which is more important than the residents of the area. The easiest way for the government is to relocate the residents to public housing on the periphery of Cairo and reuse Maspero neighborhood as a central business district.

“Madd Platform” team started to communicate with the local residents to find an alternative solution that will add the residents as a primary given in the development equation, by presenting a new plan that includes the residents without the need to relocation or force eviction. That is beside including the economical potentials of the area.

“Madd Platform” team is proudly inviting you to attend the presentation of the whole project process of Maspero Parallel Participatory Project, since the beginning of the process in June 2013, and the outcomes and outputs of the project. Up till the the project got acceptance from the prime ministry, after all stakeholders accepted the new plan for upgrading Maspero Neighborhood.

This event is also to publish the project’s book that includes the conceptual background for the project, the participatory research, the participatory design, the final plan for upgrade with the Ministry of Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements and the whole project process.
