Come join us as we celebrate the 10th Edition of our annual event, “Spend the Day in al-Khalifa (SDK 10)! “This year our celebration will be special, as we get up close and personal, and celebrate al-Khalifa alongside its people. This year, we’re bringing back our most loved activities over the past 10 years and much more!
SDK 10 is a weekend-long event that will be taking place between al-Khalifa Park and Khalifa Community Center on the 10th and 11th of March. We’re preparing lots of fun activities suitable for everyone of all ages! This is the chance for everyone to get playful while learning about Historic Cairo. Think you’re ready? Let’s see how many patterns you can spot while playing Find the Pattern Bingo! Get your little ones ready too for an eventful day ahead, from workshops to storytelling, to coloring activities and board games, we guarantee to keep them entertained all day long!
To make our event even more special, together we will be building a giant Ramadan Lantern in celebration of the launch of Athar Lina’s Ramadan products that will be available for sale on both days.

On Friday the 10th, we will launch our event in al-Khalifa Park. From 10 AM, you can join us for planting activities or for a snack made with freshly picked herbs planted and cooked with love by the women of al-Khalifa. And for art enthusiasts, we encourage you to join a live sketching tour that will be happening simultaneously.
For those interested in heritage and environment, there will be two exciting tours on this day for you to get familiar with al-Khalifa’s remarkable sites, learn about conservation from the lead of Athar Lina team alongside one of the Heritage Design Thinking School graduates. And then, head back to al-Khalifa Park for bird and insect watching before sunset.
Last but not least, Oscarisma will join us for their one-of-a-kind live performance, as we head to the Community Center to end the day with a light celebration of the women and youth who have played an instrumental part in Athar Lina Initiative.

If you missed the tours on the first day, no worries because we have prepared an exciting tour for Saturday, where we will be strolling the vibrant district of al-Khalifa, learning all about its heritage, tales and history of its women. If you want to get crafty yourself, they got you covered! They will also be walking us through the basics of Khiyamiyya when we head back to Khalifa Community Center. The day doesn’t end here, we will host an exciting performance by the students of Al Darb Al Ahmar Arts School. And with that, we’ll say goodbye and until we meet again!
