The aim of this series is to enable heritage professionals whose work focuses on the Arab world to share and exchange experiences, to be inspired and to learn. In an age when travel is difficult, yet communication is easy – a webinar series with plenty of time for discussion and conversation is an ideal forum for knowledge exchange.

The first session focuses on the challenges of urban conservation – one of the most complex areas of heritage preservation. Taking three cases studies: Cairo, Tunis and Ramallah, the conversation provides the opportunity to reflect on Tunis, a city with a well established urban preservation system, Ramallah and with work of Riwaq to focus on the urban heritage of the rural areas of Palestine, and Cairo, a city where initiatives to preserve are often juxtaposed with rapid urban change and development.
